Research & technical innovations to deliver sustainable public services for greener communities

NUI Galway and The Insight SFI Research Centre for Data Analytics provides expert research and development capacity in the domain of digital public services innovation.

EMERGREEN project partner NUI Galway and The Insight SFI Research Centre for Data Analytics goal is to provide expert research and technical innovations to help EMERGREEN project partners deliver sustainable public services to create greener communities.

Through the EMERGREEN project NUI Galway and The Insight SFI Research Centre for Data Analytics have developed two chatbots, one for Regional Council of Västernorrland (Sweden) to provide consistent information about solar energy and solar panels and the other for Derry and Strabane District Council (Northern Ireland) to provide information to local residents on a range of recycling services, providing 24/7 access to high quality and up to date information. Also, NUI Galway will support coastal erosion monitoring in Donegal (Ireland) by creating a mobile app where people can take a picture and send that to Donegal County Council to monitor the progress of the erosion.

EMERGREEN project partner Dr. Murray Scott stated that "sustainability is the responsibility of us all and we are proud to work with our community partners on the EMERGREEN project to achieve this".
